This is my documentary film, KAWERGOSK: Home Made of Cloth, which I produced in 2016 in collaboration with Liz Wuerffel, an interdisciplinary artist and educator. In 2014, Liz and I traveled to the Middle East to film at a Syrian refugee camp called Kawergosk. The film documents refugees fleeing the war in Syria and crossing the border into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It tells the story of Syrian Kurds attempting to build a life in Kawergosk Refugee Camp. From a rap artist creating songs of resistance to a young woman who recognizes the power of education, Kawergosk: Home Made of Cloth is a powerful account of perseverance in the face of hardship.
